Emma Armstrong
Leading you towards curiosity and connection.
I'm an observer.
I watch myself, the people around me and the living world, and I get curious about what I see. That curiosity is where everything I make comes from: books, courses, illustrations, ideas.
For years I supported women all over the world through pregnancy and birth. My own life brought me to connection the long way round, through grief, birth, divorce and hardship. My level of curiosity really opened up when I lost my mum during my first pregnancy. That loss led me into birth work, and birth work led me to oxytocin, the molecule I've been following ever since.
Now I share what I notice as I notice it. I'm someone looking closely at being human, creating from what I find, and helping you do the same.
How I work, and how you can too
Curiosity is a practice. It moves in four simple steps, and you can start anywhere.
- ObserveNotice yourself, other people and the world around you.
- DecodeAsk what's really happening underneath, in the mind, body and reality around you.
- CreateLet what you see either transform you, express through you or turn into something tangible.
- ShareShare your stories and experiences with the world.
The Biology of Belonging
Oxytocin: the hidden chemistry of human connection
Human beings are built for connection. The modern world has quietly taken apart the conditions for it, and the cost is real and measurable.
This book follows oxytocin, the small, ancient molecule I call Mrs O, from conception through life and death. It's laid out like a journey: down into the wound, then back up through everything that heals. Connection to others, to the living world, and to yourself.
- Meet Mrs OWho she is and where she goes
- The BondHow connection is built, from the womb on
- The WoundLoneliness, loss and what disconnection costs
- The ReturnWhat calls her home
- DissolutionThe doorways where the self softens
- The WorkTaking it into your own life
